Face Painting Gift Basket

This is a totally unique idea for a gift basket and when I saw one I thought it was nothing like I'd seen before and I've seen a lot of gift baskets! It consisted of all the items you would need for face painting -including brushes, face painting paints, face painting designs, comfort items for the child, etc.  You can easily put one together.  you can also buy a face painting kit and open it and put the items separately in a gift basket.  You can also tuck in a face painting book and I found the best face painting book when I met a professional face painter at a big festival this summer. One great thing about this idea is that  face painting can be a small business also--  a great plus besides the gift basket for a friend who is so inclined-- or yourself!  My report on it is below:

I've been to many festivals and kid's events and have always admired the face painting designs that I saw on so many of the kids.  The lines were always long, but we waited our turn patiently.  I often thought it would be a good sideline business for any young mom with kids in school.  I was never sure how they learned their trade, so to speak, so I asked one of the best face painters one day how she learned how to face paint and make such beautiful face painting designs. I picked her out from the five face painters who were face painting kid's faces because her designs were so professional and high quality compared to the others. I thought for sure she had professional face painting training.  She told me she was never a good art student in school and never thought she really had any artistic talent.  But people all around were raving about her face painting designs and happy faces!

Anyway she told me about a face painting book that she got off the Internet. And how it had helped her realize that perhaps she had artistic talent after all and because of the book had been earning a side income from face painting at festivals and children's birthday parties, etc.  She had even been on local television demonstrating her face painting skills.  As it turned out she also ended up with another business giving face painting classes for other moms who wanted to learn how to do child face painting - some for starting a small business and some just so they could volunteer face painting for school events. Face Painting   

She started making good money from her face painting classes and is still giving them today.  So I just had to get this wonderful ebook and I was really quite amazed with it. I knew a few moms who had been looking for kid face painting ideas and designs to face paint their kids and for school and festival events, so this face painting book seemed perfect.

It has a step-by-step photo library with more than 55 face painting designs--- most are simple and that includes about 5 full face designs.  The face painting designs include princess, tiger, dog, bunny and butterfly. That also includes about 10 holiday designs for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  It's hard to find anything I don't like about the book, but I think more holiday designs for other holidays would be nice.

It shows what few basic supplies you need so you don't go overboard on buying supplies you don't need.  No face painting kits needed. It is full of tips that I found especially important like how to make sure that two colors that are painted close together won't smudge – a neat trick.  There is also a time when a face should not be painted.  It also tells you which paints NOT to use.  If you're so inclined it also shows you how to create your own face painting designs using stencils.  With her easy face painting ideas you can create a face in about three minutes.

I was curious so I checked the public library and found the books there had full-face designs and those were not very attractive.  There was not enough detail and especially none of the secrets that were revealed in the face painting book that I have. Nor were they as easy to understand!
